Tumor-Node-Metastasis (TNM) System
The Tumor-Node-Metastasis (TNM) system is a standardized way doctors describe and stage cancer. "Tumor" refers to the size and extent of the original cancer; "Node" indicates whether the cancer has spread to nearby lymph nodes; and "Metastasis" shows if it has spread to other parts of the body. This system helps doctors assess how advanced the cancer is, plan appropriate treatment, and predict outcomes. Each category is scored or classified, providing a detailed picture of the disease to guide clinical decisions.
