Tulving (Endel Tulving)
Endel Tulving was a psychologist renowned for his work on memory. He proposed that our memory consists of different systems, primarily dividing it into episodic memory (personal experiences and specific events) and semantic memory (general knowledge and facts). His distinction explains how we can remember particular moments in our lives separately from knowing facts about the world. Tulving’s research helped clarify how human memory functions and how these systems interact, advancing our understanding of cognition and informing fields like psychology, neuroscience, and education.
