Tule Lake Segregation Center

Tule Lake Segregation Center was a detention camp in California during World War II, established as part of the internment of Japanese Americans. Originally designed to hold prisoners of war, it was converted into a segregated internment camp specifically for Japanese Americans labeled as "disloyal" by the U.S. government. Located in Northern California, it housed thousands of Japanese Americans who were forcibly relocated from the West Coast. Tule Lake became known for its harsh conditions and strict segregation policies, which aimed to punish and isolate those considered disloyal. After the war, the camp was closed, and many internees sought to rebuild their lives.
