Tube Worms

Tube worms are marine annelid worms that live attached to the ocean floor, often around hydrothermal vents or cold seeps. They have a tubular structure that provides protection and support. These worms lack a mouth and digestive system; instead, they rely on a symbiotic relationship with bacteria that live inside their bodies. The bacteria convert chemicals like hydrogen sulfide from their environment into nutrients, providing sustenance for the worms. This unique adaptation allows tube worms to thrive in extreme, nutrient-rich environments where other organisms might not survive.
