Tubal ligation (female equivalent)

Tubal ligation is a surgical procedure for women that permanently prevents pregnancy by blocking or sealing the fallopian tubes. The fallopian tubes are pathways that carry eggs from the ovaries to the uterus; blocking them stops eggs from reaching sperm or becoming fertilized. The surgery is typically performed through small incisions in the abdomen and is considered a highly effective form of sterilization. It does not affect hormone levels or cause menopause. While it is intended to be permanent, in some cases, the tubes can be reconnected, but this is not always successful.
