Tsaritsa
The Tsaritsa is a title used for the wife of a Tsar, the emperor or monarch of Russia. Historically, the Tsaritsa held a significant social and sometimes political role, often involved in court affairs and charitable work. The term reflects Russia’s imperial history and aristocratic hierarchy. Today, it is a historical designation with no official status, used to refer to the wives of former Tsars before the monarchy was abolished in 1917.
