Truth-tracking Theories

Truth-tracking theories in epistemology examine how our beliefs connect with the truth. In the context of virtue epistemology, these theories suggest that knowledge arises when a person's intellectual virtues—like open-mindedness, diligence, and critical thinking—enable them to track the truth accurately. Essentially, if individuals possess these virtues, they are more likely to form true beliefs and avoid false ones. This approach emphasizes the importance of the knower's character and capabilities in acquiring knowledge rather than just the justification of beliefs or their correspondence to reality.
