Truth and Reconciliation Commission (Canada)

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) in Canada was established to address the historical injustices faced by Indigenous peoples, particularly related to the residential school system. From 2008 to 2015, the TRC gathered testimonies from survivors and documented the impacts of these schools, where Indigenous children were taken to assimilate into Euro-Canadian culture. The TRC's final report included 94 Calls to Action aimed at fostering reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians, promoting awareness of past injustices, and encouraging healing and mutual respect for future generations.
