Trujillo regime

The Trujillo regime refers to the authoritarian rule of Rafael Trujillo in the Dominican Republic from 1930 to 1961. His government was characterized by dictatorial control, suppression of political opposition, censorship, and human rights abuses. Trujillo maintained power through violence, propaganda, and control over the military and security forces, creating a personality cult. Despite economic development at times, his regime was marked by repression and inequality. Trujillo's leadership ended with his assassination in 1961, after which the country moved toward democratic reforms.
