Truce of God
The Truce of God was a medieval church initiative aimed at reducing violence among feudal warriors. Enacted from the 10th to 12th centuries, it restricted fighting during specific days, such as religious holidays and Sundays, encouraging peace and moral behavior. The Church sought to limit warfare's impact on civilians and promote spiritual values by establishing these temporary ceasefires. While it didn't completely end violence, it reflected efforts to influence secular conduct through religious authority, fostering a sense of moral responsibility amid ongoing conflicts.
