Trotskyist Movement
The Trotskyist movement is a branch of socialism based on the ideas of Leon Trotsky, a Russian revolutionary. It advocates for international workers’ revolution, aiming to overthrow capitalism and establish a socialist society, but emphasizes the need for permanent, worldwide struggle rather than gaining power within individual countries. Trotskyists oppose Stalin’s policies and advocate for democratic socialism, workers’ self-management, and international solidarity. They also reject authoritarian governance, promoting instead a transitional period of workers’ councils (soviets). The movement has influenced various leftist groups and remains active in discussing revolutionary strategies and socialist ideals today.
