Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM)
The Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) was a NASA and Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAXA) satellite launched in 1997 to study rainfall and climate in the tropics. Using advanced radar and satellites, TRMM measured rainfall intensity, patterns, and distribution over tropical regions. Its data helps scientists understand weather patterns, predict storms, and study climate change. The mission provided valuable insights into how rainfall affects ecosystems, agriculture, and water resources in tropical areas, improving weather forecasting and aiding disaster preparedness. TRMM operated until 2015, serving as a pioneer for future climate and precipitation research satellites.
