Trojan Horses
A Trojan Horse is a type of malicious software that disguises itself as a harmless or useful program to deceive users into installing it. Once inside a computer, it can grant unauthorized access, steal sensitive data, or cause damage without the user’s knowledge. The term comes from the ancient Greek story where a hidden soldier was concealed inside a giant wooden horse to infiltrate a city. Unlike viruses that replicate themselves, Trojans rely on tricking users into opening or executing them, making them a significant cybersecurity threat when downloaded from untrusted sources.
