Trilobita

Trilobita is an extinct group of marine arthropods that existed from about 521 to 252 million years ago. They had hard, segmented bodies divided into three main parts: the head (cephalon), segmented middle (thorax), and tail (pygidium). Trilobites had exoskeletons that often fossilized well, providing valuable insights into early animal life. They varied in size and shape, with some being tiny and others over a foot long. Trilobites were some of the earliest known groups with complex eyes, and they played important roles in ancient ocean ecosystems as scavengers and predators.
