Trilithon
A trilithon is a structure composed of two large vertical stones called posts, supporting a horizontal stone called a lintel. Think of it like a giant stone doorway or gate, where the two upright stones hold up the massive horizontal stone across the top. These formations are often used in ancient construction, notably in megalithic sites like Stonehenge in England. Trilithons demonstrate impressive engineering skills, allowing large, stable structures without modern tools, and they often held cultural or ceremonial significance in prehistoric communities.
