Trial of Joan of Arc

The Trial of Joan of Arc was a legal process in 1431 where she was accused of heresy and other charges while claiming to have received divine guidance. She was tried by a church court in Rouen, France, under the authority of English and Burgundian officials occupying the city. Despite her efforts to defend herself, she was found guilty of relapsing into heresy, partly because her visions and actions challenged church authority. The trial was politically motivated, aiming to discredit her and her influence. Joan was ultimately burned at the stake, and her trial was later annulled as unjust.
