Triadic Model of Sign
The Triadic Model of the Sign, developed by linguist Charles Sanders Peirce, explains how we understand signs (like words or symbols). It involves three components: the "Representamen" (the sign itself, such as a word or image), the "Object" (what the sign refers to or stands for), and the "Interpretant" (the meaning or understanding created in the mind of the viewer). When we see a sign, our brain connects it to an idea or concept (Object), resulting in a mental interpretation (Interpretant). This model highlights that meaning is a dynamic process involving the sign, what it relates to, and our interpretation.
