Triad (organized crime)

Triad organizations are highly structured criminal groups originating in China, involved in various illicit activities such as drug trafficking, extortion, gambling, and human trafficking. They operate with a hierarchical system, featuring leadership known as "Dragon heads" and various ranks beneath them. Triads maintain secrecy and loyalty through rituals and symbols, often influencing or infiltrating legitimate businesses and communities. Their influence extends beyond China, affecting international crime networks. Despite law enforcement efforts, Triads adapt, remaining a significant organized crime presence, driven by a desire for profit and power within both criminal and social spheres.
