Tri-dimensional model of acculturation
The Tri-dimensional Model of Acculturation describes how individuals adapt culturally when they encounter a new society. It considers three aspects: maintaining one's original cultural identity, adopting the new country's culture, and developing a sense of belonging in the new environment. People can choose to keep their traditions, fully adopt the new culture, or find a balance between the two, or even feel disconnected from both. This model helps us understand the different ways people integrate or navigate dual cultural identities during their adaptation process.
