Treaty on the Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT)
The Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) is an international agreement aiming to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons, promote peaceful uses of nuclear energy, and encourage disarmament. It divides countries into nuclear-weapon states (with nuclear arsenals) and non-nuclear-weapon states (without). Non-nuclear states agree not to develop nuclear weapons, while nuclear states commit to disarmament and sharing peaceful nuclear technology. The NPT fosters global efforts to reduce nuclear risks and promote security through cooperation and regulation.
