Treaty of Warsaw (1920)

The Treaty of Warsaw (1920) was an agreement between Poland and Soviet Russia during the Polish-Soviet War. Poland sought to secure its independence and expand its territory, while the Soviets aimed to spread communist influence westward. The treaty resulted in Poland gaining significant eastern territories, including parts of present-day Ukraine and Belarus, and ensured peace between the two nations. It also established borders that favored Polish interests at that time. However, the agreement was temporary; later conflicts altered these boundaries, but the treaty marked a crucial attempt at diplomacy during a turbulent period.
