Treaty of 1014

The Treaty of 1014 was an agreement between King Æthelred the Unready of England and King Olaf II of Norway. It aimed to resolve conflicts by establishing Olaf as a ruler of parts of England, particularly Northumbria, in exchange for Olaf ceasing his attacks. The treaty promised that Olaf could govern these territories, offering him a foothold in England. However, the treaty’s terms were not fully honored, and conflicts continued. Overall, it was a political effort to bring peace between the two rulers through cooperation and territorial settlement.
