Treaties and directives

Treaties are formal agreements between countries that create legal obligations, often to cooperate on issues like trade, environmental protection, or security. They require parties to follow agreed-upon rules and can be legally binding once ratified. Directives are legally binding instructions issued by the European Union to its member states, setting out goals that each country must achieve. While the EU sets the objectives, individual countries decide how to implement them into their national laws. Both tools ensure coordinated actions across nations or within regions, promoting consistency and cooperation on shared concerns.
