treasure voyages
Treasure voyages were large-scale maritime expeditions conducted by China during the Ming Dynasty between the early 15th and early 16th centuries. Led by Admiral Zheng He, these voyages involved massive fleets of ships exploring and establishing diplomatic and trade relations across Asia, Africa, and the Indian Ocean. The purpose was to demonstrate China's naval power, collect tributaries, and promote trade. These expeditions showcased advanced navigation skills and international engagement, expanding China's influence beyond its borders. After Zheng He's retirement, the voyages ceased, and China focused inward, but they remain significant for their scale and impact on global maritime history.
