Travancore royal family

The Travancore royal family was the ruling dynasty of the princely state of Travancore in southern India, known for its progressive administration, rich cultural heritage, and contributions to education and arts. They held a semi-sovereign status under British suzerainty from the 18th century until India gained independence in 1947. The family’s influence extended through governance, philanthropy, and patronage of temples and institutions. The most prominent member was Maharaja Swathi Thirunal, a patron of music and arts. Today, the family remains a symbol of cultural legacy and historical significance in Kerala.
