TRAPPIST-1 (System)
The TRAPPIST-1 system is a group of seven Earth-sized planets orbiting a small, cool star about 40 light-years away. Discovered in 2017, several of these planets are located in the star's habitable zone, where conditions might allow liquid water to exist. The planets are tightly packed, with short orbital periods, making the system unique for studying planetary formation and potential habitability. Its discoveries have sparked interest in understanding whether these worlds could support life and how planetary systems form around smaller stars.
