Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs

Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs are humane strategies to manage feral cat populations. Volunteers trap free-roaming cats, have them spayed or neutered, and then return them to their original outdoor environment. This prevents cats from reproducing, gradually reducing the number of unowned, feral cats over time. TNR helps improve the animals’ health, reduces nuisances such as noise and scavenging, and stabilizes colonies without culling. It is considered an effective, ethical approach to coexist peacefully with feral cats while controlling their growth and impact on communities.
