Transylvania Company

The Transylvania Company was a 18th-century land speculation business formed by American entrepreneurs in the late 1770s. It aimed to acquire and settle large areas of land in what is now Kentucky and Tennessee, inspired by the popularity of the fictional Dracula's Transylvania. The company sought to encourage settlement and claimed rights to significant territory, but its efforts were complicated by conflicting land claims, Native American sovereignty, and political disputes between Britain, Spain, and the American colonies. Ultimately, the company's ambitions were limited by larger geopolitical issues, and the land it sought became part of the expanding United States.
