Transvaluation of Values
Transvaluation of values is a concept introduced by philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, meaning the reevaluation or transformation of existing moral beliefs and standards. It involves critically examining traditional values—such as those emphasizing humility, meekness, or obedience—and challenging them to create new, personally authentic values. Nietzsche believed this process was necessary for individuals to attain self-empowerment and authenticity, moving beyond societal norms that may hinder human potential. Essentially, transvaluation encourages questioning what we consider good or bad, allowing individuals to craft their own moral outlooks based on their unique perspective and strength.
