transurethral techniques

Transurethral techniques are medical procedures used to treat bladder and prostate conditions through the urethra, the tube that carries urine out of the body. Instead of making external incisions, a doctor inserts specialized instruments via the urethra to remove or treat abnormal tissue or obstructions. Common examples include transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) for enlarged prostate and transurethral resection of the bladder tumor (TURBT). These minimally invasive procedures typically result in less pain, shorter recovery times, and fewer complications compared to traditional surgery.
