Transponder

A transponder is a device that receives a signal, processes or modifies it, and then broadcasts it back or forward. Used in various fields like aviation, maritime, and telecommunications, transponders help identify and communicate with objects or systems. For example, in satellite communications, a satellite transponder receives signals from a ground station, amplifies and changes their frequency, then sends them back to the ground, enabling data transmission over long distances. Essentially, transponders act as intelligent repeaters that facilitate efficient, reliable communication and identification across different platforms.
