transplant recipients
Transplant recipients are individuals who have received an organ (such as a kidney, liver, or heart) or tissue from a donor to replace a failing or damaged one. This procedure can significantly improve health and survival. After a transplant, recipients usually take medications called immunosuppressants to prevent their immune system from rejecting the new organ, which recognizes it as foreign. While transplants can greatly enhance quality of life, recipients require ongoing medical care and monitoring to ensure the transplant functions properly and to minimize risks such as infection or rejection.
