Transpadane Gaul
Transpadane Gaul was a historical region in northern Italy, situated north of the Po River, roughly corresponding to modern-day Piedmont and parts of Lombardy. It was inhabited by Celtic tribes before becoming part of the Roman Republic and later the Empire. The term "Transpadane" means "across the Po" river, highlighting its geographical position relative to the Po. This area was important for trade, agriculture, and military campaigns in Roman times, serving as a key strategic and economic zone connecting Italy with Gaul. It played a significant role in the Roman conquest and the development of Roman infrastructure in northern Italy.
