Transobturator tape (TOT)

Transobturator tape (TOT) is a surgical procedure used to treat stress urinary incontinence in women, which causes leakage of urine during activities like coughing or exertion. A small mesh tape is placed under the urethra through small incisions in the groin area, providing support to the urethra and helping it stay closed during pressure. The TOT approach minimizes tissue dissection and reduces complications compared to older methods. It is generally performed under local or general anesthesia and allows for a quicker recovery, restoring normal bladder control and improving quality of life.
