Transmit coils

Transmit coils are components in MRI machines that generate radiofrequency (RF) magnetic fields to excite hydrogen atoms in the body. When activated, the coil produces a specific RF signal that causes hydrogen nuclei to produce measurable signals. These signals are then captured by receiving coils to create detailed images of internal body structures. Essentially, transmit coils serve as the “power source” that initiates and controls the RF energy needed for MRI imaging, enabling precise visualization of tissues without any invasive procedures.
