Transmission Model

The Transmission Model explains how infectious diseases spread from one person to another. It involves three key parts: the source or infected person, the means by which the disease is transmitted (like air, contact, or surfaces), and the susceptible individual who can catch the disease. The model emphasizes that limiting or interrupting any of these parts—such as through vaccines, hygiene, or masks—can reduce or prevent transmission. It helps us understand the pathways of infection, guiding public health strategies to control outbreaks effectively.
