Transitional Government of Iraq
The Transitional Government of Iraq was a temporary leadership established in 2004 after Saddam Hussein’s fall, aimed at guiding the country through a transition from authoritarian rule to democracy. It included both coalition officials and Iraqi representatives, responsible for creating a new constitution, organizing elections, and maintaining stability. This government worked to rebuild Iraq’s political institutions and improve security while preparing the nation for full sovereignty. It served as an essential bridge between the previous regime and a future, fully independent Iraqi government, with its mandate ending after elected authorities assumed official control in 2006.
