Transcutaneous Oxygen Monitoring

Transcutaneous oxygen monitoring is a non-invasive test that measures the oxygen level in the blood beneath the skin. A small sensor is placed on the skin and gently heated to increase blood flow in the area. The device then detects how much oxygen is diffusing through the skin, providing an estimate of how well oxygen is reaching tissues. This test helps assess blood circulation, especially in cases of wounds, peripheral artery disease, or during surgery to ensure tissues are receiving enough oxygen to heal and function properly.
