Transcriptional coactivators

Transcriptional coactivators are proteins that assist genes in being turned on by enhancing the activity of transcription factors, which are responsible for reading DNA to produce RNA. Unlike transcription factors, coactivators do not directly bind to DNA but work by interacting with transcription factors and other proteins to open up the chromatin structure and recruit the machinery needed for gene expression. This coordination helps ensure genes are expressed at the right time and place, playing a crucial role in processes like cell development, response to signals, and maintaining normal cellular functions.
