transconjunctival approach
The transconjunctival approach is a surgical method used to access the eye's surrounding bones, often for procedures like orbital fracture repair. Instead of making a cut on the eyelid surface, the surgeon makes an internal incision inside the lower eyelid through a layer called the conjunctiva (the transparent membrane covering the eye). This approach minimizes visible scarring and preserves eyelid function. It provides a direct pathway to the orbital area, reducing tissue disruption and promoting quicker recovery while allowing the surgeon to effectively repair fractures or other issues in the eye socket.
