Transabdominal CVS
Transabdominal Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS) is a prenatal test performed during pregnancy to assess fetal genetic health. Using an ultrasound for guidance, a thin needle is inserted through the mother's abdomen into the uterus to collect a small sample of placental tissue, called chorionic villi. Since these cells share the baby's genetic material, analyzing them can reveal genetic abnormalities or conditions early in pregnancy. The procedure typically occurs between 10 and 13 weeks and helps expectant parents make informed decisions about the pregnancy. It’s generally safe but involves a slight risk of miscarriage.
