Trans-Pacific Partnership
The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) was a trade agreement among several countries bordering the Pacific Ocean aimed at reducing tariffs and other trade barriers to promote economic growth, job creation, and investment. It also sought to establish common standards on issues like labor rights, environmental protection, and intellectual property. The goal was to strengthen economic ties and create a more integrated market across member nations. Although the U.S. initially signed the agreement, it was later withdrawn in 2017. The remaining countries continue negotiations under a modified framework called the CPTPP (Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership).
