tracheitis

Tracheitis is an infection or inflammation of the trachea, which is the windpipe that carries air from your throat to your lungs. It often results from a bacterial or viral illness and causes symptoms like a sore throat, cough, difficulty breathing, and a feeling of tightness in the chest. In children, it can cause a cough that sounds like a barking seal. While it can be mild, severe cases may lead to breathing problems, requiring medical attention. Treatment usually involves antibiotics if bacterial, along with supportive care to help ease symptoms.
