trabecular bone score
Trabecular Bone Score (TBS) is a measurement that provides insight into the quality of the spongy, inner part of your bones, called trabecular bone. While a standard bone mineral density (BMD) test shows how dense your bones are, TBS assesses the microarchitecture or the internal structure, which influences fracture risk. A higher TBS indicates stronger, better-connected trabecular bone, while a lower score suggests weaker structure and potentially higher fracture risk, even if BMD appears normal. TBS helps doctors better predict fracture risk and plan appropriate prevention or treatment strategies.
