Tower mill
A tower mill is a type of windmill designed for grinding grain or pumping water. It consists of a tall, sturdy cylindrical tower made of brick or stone, topped with a rotating cap that holds the sails (large blades). The tower remains stationary, while the cap and sails turn to face the wind. The rotating sails drive machinery inside the mill to perform tasks like grinding. Tower mills are more durable and easier to maintain than older, wooden post mills, making them a popular design from the 18th and 19th centuries.
