Tower bell

A tower bell is a large, often metal, ringing instrument housed in a tall structure called a bell tower or steeple. Its purpose is to produce sound that can be heard over long distances, traditionally used to signal time, call people to worship, or mark special events. The bell is struck by a clapper inside or by an external hammer, either manually or automatically. When rung, it vibrates, creating a resonant sound wave. Tower bells are carefully tuned to produce harmonious notes, and their size and shape influence the pitch and volume of the sound.
