Tourniquet Use

A tourniquet is a device used to control severe bleeding from an arm or leg by tightening around the limb to temporarily cut off blood flow. Proper application involves placing it a few inches above the wound, tightening until bleeding stops, and securing it in place. It should be used only when bleeding is life-threatening and cannot be controlled by other means, such as direct pressure. It's important to note the time it was applied, as prolonged use can cause tissue damage. Medical professionals should be contacted immediately, and the tourniquet should be released as soon as professional help arrives if possible.
