Torr

A Torr is a unit used to measure pressure, similar to how pounds per square inch (psi) or pascals work. It originates from the history of mercury barometers, where pressure is related to how high mercury rises in a tube. One Torr equals the pressure exerted by a 1 millimeter high column of mercury at standard gravity and temperature. In practical terms, it's often used in fields like vacuum technology to specify how low a pressure is, with lower Torr values indicating higher vacuum levels. One Torr is roughly equivalent to 1/760th of atmospheric pressure at sea level.
