Topicalization

Topicalization is a grammatical process where a speaker moves a particular word or phrase—often the topic of the sentence—to the front for emphasis or clarity. This rearrangement highlights the chosen element, making it clear what the sentence is primarily about. For example, instead of saying, "I read that book," someone might say, "That book, I read," emphasizing the "that book." Topicalization is common in many languages and helps focus the listener’s attention on specific information, making communication more precise and effective.
