tonsillitis
Tonsillitis is an inflammation of the tonsils, which are two small, oval-shaped tissue masses at the back of the throat that help fight infections. It’s usually caused by viral or bacterial infections, leading to symptoms like sore throat, difficulty swallowing, swollen glands, fever, and possibly white patches on the tonsils. Most cases resolve with rest, fluids, and over-the-counter pain relief, but bacterial infections may require antibiotics. Persistent or severe cases might need medical evaluation or removal of the tonsils. It's common, especially in children, and generally not serious with proper care.
